A BIT ABOUT ME
With over 25 years of experience, Michael R. Istre has provided consulting, engineering, and project management for all types of midstream pipeline projects. Specializing in emerging products, I have expertise with carbon dioxide (CO2), renewable natural gas (RNG), and hydrogen (H2) transmission as well as legacy midstream products like natural gas, NGLs, crude oil, and refined products.
ABOUT MY PHILOSOPHY
How do I install it? How do I paint it? How do I fix it?
These three simple questions summarizes my governing philosophy. I strive to deliver projects that are constructable and designed with human factors for operability and maintainability.

MORE ABOUT ME
Michael R. Istre, PE, PMP
Michael is a professional engineer and project management professional with over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas midstream sector. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering with a Computer Aided Design & Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) specialty from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a MS in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on design philosophy from The University of Texas at Austin.
His early career focused on offshore pipelines with unique projects that set several world records for diameter vs. depth. Most notably, he was the engineer of record for the Allegheny Latera (aka MC 254 lateral), a 16" OD pipeline in 3,300 depth and the marine segment of the Gulfstream pipeline, 420 miles of 36" OD pipe from Alabama to Florida through 800 ft depth.

Michael's onshore work brought a passion for specialty transmission including the 320 mile Green Pipeline CO2 system from Louisiana to Texas and CO2 export pipelines from power plant CCS systems in Texas and Mississippi. He has completed a variety of studies related to renewable natural gas (RNG), natural gas/hydrogen blends, and molten sulfur.

Michael has earned three patents and published five peer reviewed papers related to his pipeline work.

Now, as the Director of Research and Project Management at The INGAA Foundation, Inc., Michael oversees the Foundation's research, studies, and workshop program, facilitating collaboration among nearly 200 member companies in the natural gas and clean energy infrastructure industry. His strategic insights and ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships have been instrumental in achieving targeted technical deliverables within established budgets and timelines.
